Associate Professor
Bahcesehir University Faculty of Medicine, Department of. Medical Biology
Dr. Timuçin AVŞAR graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Molecular Biology and Genetics Program in 2007 and completed the Molecular Biology, Genetics and Biotechnology master program in 2009. Then, he continued his Ph.D. at the same department and completed his thesis study in 2015. During his Ph.D. studies he focused on two main areas; multiple sclerosis and brain tumors. Dr. Timuçin Avşar was the coordinator of the molecular neurosurgery laboratory of Dr. Türker Kılıç at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Marmara University. He studied different brain tumors and vascular anomalies at this laboratory. He has involved in international projects involving meningioma studies as a part of post-doc researches. Dr. Avşar worked as a research and development coordinator in private research laboratories and led many national and international projects.
Currently, Dr. Avşar’s lab interested in finding new horizons in the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors. His research specifically focuses on glioma tumors finding novel treatment modalities to conduct precision medicine. His group running several projects about the molecular mechanisms and novel treatments to overcome the chemotherapy resistance in glioblastoma.
