Gnaneswari (Esha) Karayi, B.A., is a first-year medical student at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a graduate of Brown University’s Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME), the university’s 8-year combined BS/MD program. Originally from Sacramento, California, she has a strong interest in cerebrovascular neurosurgical research and is a co-founder of the medical school’s Cerebrovascular Student Alliance—a multidisciplinary group dedicated to connecting students and professionals involved in the treatment of cerebrovascular disease. The group also emphasizes community outreach to raise awareness about cerebrovascular health and improve recognition of stroke symptoms. Esha is deeply motivated to pursue a career in neurosurgery, with a commitment to integrating research, community engagement, and medical education within the cerebrovascular space.
