Jaskeerat Gujral is an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, studying neuroscience and in the accelerated Bioengineering Master's Program. He is a Sharpe research scholar, conducting clinical spine research under Dr. William C. Welch. He is currently contributing to the development and validation of prognostic and diagnostic artificial intelligence clinical prediction models in spinal surgery. He has completed his undergraduate thesis in investigating novel DBS sites to treat Freezing of Gait symptoms of Parkinson’s disease (PD), as well as determine gender differences for PD patients who undergo DBS at Penn Medicine under Dr. Iahn Cajigas. With interests in basic science research, Jaskeerat also conducts neurodegenerative disease research under Dr. Virginia Lee. Combining his clinical and basic science work, he hopes to develop a comprehensive understanding of PD and movement disorders.
