Medical Student
Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Andres Morales-Martinez attended Purdue University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Statistics in 2022, followed by a Professional Master’s Degree in Biomedical Device Development in 2023. As a Boilermaker, Andres engaged in various research labs, contributing to the Umulis Quantitative and Systems Biology Research Group and the Tepole Mechanics and Mechanobiology Lab. He also served as an Anatomy and Physiology Teaching Assistant for two years. In addition, Andres participated in summer biomechanics research experiences at the Movement Science Lab at Scottish Rite for Children in Frisco, TX, and at the Center for Injury Biomechanics at the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC.
Between his undergraduate and graduate years, Andres worked with AmeriCorps and the EAGLE Scholars Program in Dallas, TX, where he served as a mentor for middle and high school students from predominantly refugee and immigrant communities, helping them aspire to become first-generation college students. During his gap year before matriculation, Andres worked at the Texas A&M School of Dentistry as a Research Associate in a mandibular biology and orthodontic research lab under the supervision of Dr. Yan Jing, DMD, PhD.
Morales-Martinez chose EnMed with the aspiration of combining medicine and engineering to reduce health disparities among Hispanic Americans by improving healthcare technologies and expanding their access. He also aims to inspire the next generation from underserved and minority communities to pursue careers in STEM and medicine.
Outside of professional commitments, you can find Andres out on the golf course or biking trails, at the gym weightlifting, or enjoying social events with friends and classmates.
