Medical Student
Georgetown University School of Medicine
My name is Samuel Wakelin, BS and I am a third year medical student at Georgetown University School of Medicine. I am interested in neurosurgery becasue of my love for neuroscience and my interest in treating patients with complex disorders of the nervous system. My first exposure to neurosurgery was during high school, when I worked with Dr. William Curry at Massachusestts General Hosptial studying immunotherapeutic approaches to treating Glioblastoma. This ignited my passion for research, and as an undergradtuate at Georgetown I continue to pursue this passion by studying novel treatments that promote remyelination in secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. At Georgetown, I have continued to pursue neuroscience research by working closely with the MGUH neurosurgery residents to support their ongoing projects across many of the neurosurgical disciplines. I am always interested in learning more about neuroscience and I hope to make a strong contribution to the AANS conference this year.
