Medical Student
Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine
Abigael Njoki Mbaluka is a third year medical student at Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine with a strong interest in neurosurgery and neuro-oncology. Their passion for the field began early, influenced by firsthand experiences with patients affected by brain tumors and cerebrovascular disease. Before medical school, they worked closely with families navigating complex neurological conditions, reinforcing their commitment to advancing research and improving patient care.
Currently, Abigael Mbaluka is pursuing a research year focused on addressing healthcare disparities in neuro-oncology, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, where access to imaging and specialized care remains limited. Their work aims to bridge these gaps through innovative research, global health initiatives, and evidence-based interventions.
Beyond research, Abigael Mbaluka is actively involved in mentorship within the college of medicine and with national organizations such as the student national medical association (SNMA. They aspire to contribute to the field through both academic and surgical excellence, with a long-term goal of enhancing neurosurgical care and accessibility worl)dwide.
