Dr. Shurkhay was born and raised in Moscow, Russia and obtained his medical degree at Moscow Medical Academy in 2007. His neurosurgical residency was at Burdenko Neurosurgical Institute in Moscow (2007-2012). His area of interests include traumatic brain injury with focus on surgical treatment of its sequelae such as skull defects and hydrocephalus; surgical treatment of primary malignant brain tumors with usage of multimodal neuronavigation (frameless and methabolic (5-ALA and mass-spectrometry) and robotic guidance.
