I am Sai Sanikommu, a medical graduate from Andhra Pradesh, India. My passion for medicine started back in my childhood when I was diagnosed with HSP. It was challenging as the first family member who attended school, college, and medical school. My family taught me to stay humble and be a good learner. Surgery is another reason why I want to become a doctor. When everyone in my friends was figuring out what they wanted to do in the first year of med school, I already knew I wanna be a surgeon. I wanted to be a neurosurgeon in my first year after studying the complex physiology and anatomy of the nervous system. My research interest started during my final year of medical school, and the interest landed me in the position where I am now. I love working on basic science, and my current project is focused on endothelial dysfunction in cerebral aneurysm pathogenesis. Besides Basic science, I am actively involved in various clinical research projects focused on patient-related outcomes in Neurosurgery.
