Student
Drexel University College of Medicine, US
Hi, my name is Sami Shaikh, and I am a rising 3rd year medical student at Drexel University College of Medicine. I was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated The College of New Jerey with a major in biology and minor in chemistry. Ever since high school I have been fascinated by neuroscience due to the evolving research and complex surgical cases that have the capability to transform a patient's life. Some of my research interests include spine and pediatric care. I have been grateful to work alongside many inspiring mentors during the past year, from institutions including Harvard University, Sidney Kimmel Medical College, and University of Pennsylvania. I plan to broaden my horizons in this diverse field and push forward medicine as a team.
Some of my hobbies outside of academics include playing soccer in the Philadelphia Medical School League, playing the piano, and simply hanging out with friends to explore the city. One of the most unique places I have travelled to was Morocco. If you are a nature person, the drive from one city to the next (i.e. Tangier to Chefchaouen) is very scenic. Though I thought Casablanca was a bit overrated, the food anywhere in Morocco was worth the seven-hour flight in itself.
I am excited to be part of this conference and thank you for having me.
