My name is Stephen Harward, MD, PhD and I am an Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. My clinical practice focuses on the surgical treatment of movement disorders, chronic pain, and epilepsy using techniques such as surgical resection, deep brain stimulation, responsive neurostimulation, and focused ultrasound. In addition to my clinical practice, I also run a basic science laboratory studying the mechanisms by which focused ultrasound can have neuromodulatory effects on the brain. My team and I are eagerly working on identifying novel ways to use focused ultrasound to treat brain disease.
