Yuan Xu, MD, is currently a research fellow working under the supervision of Dr. Mark C. Preul in the Loyal and Edith Davis Neurosurgical Research Laboratory at Barrow Neurological Institute. He obtained his medical degree in Shanghai, China, and started postgraduate training in the Department of Neurosurgery at Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai, China. Most of his research is on surgical fluorescence technology, confocal laser endomicroscopy, an intraoperative real-time cellular imaging technology, and their application in brain tumor surgery. His work led to publications in high-impact neurosurgery and neurooncology journals and was awarded the Surgical Tumor Award by the AANS/CNS Tumor Section.
