Dr Koray Özduman was born in Istanbul in 1973. He completed his education at St. Georg Austrian High School and subsequently earned his MD degree at Istanbul University in 1998. He completed his neurosurgery training at Marmara University in 2005. Additionally he completed two fellowships at Yale University, one in clinical-neurosurgery (2002-2003) and one in neurooncology-research (2005-2007). From 2007-2008 he completed his national military service at Gumussuyu Military hospital. He joined Acıbadem University Department of Neurosurgery in Istanbul-Turkey, where he became an assistant professor in 2008, associate professor in 2011 and a full professor in 2016. Currently, he is serving as the chairman of the same Department since 2023 and directs the Acıbadem Gamma Knife Unit since 2017.
His teaching duties include the MD program, Residency program and the "Neuroscience" and "Translational Science" PhD programs at Acıbadem University.
In 2012, he established the "Acıbadem University Brain Tumor Research Group" and has been continuously conducting scientific research. His studies have particularly focused on “the mechanisms of glial tumor initiation and progression”. He has 67 international publications in peer-reviewed journals, 14 book chapters, one edited book. These publications have received 4060 citations and his Google H-index is 29. He also has received five international awards. He is a member of the World Academy of Neurological Surgery (WANS), American Association of Neurological Surgery (AANS), AANS/CNS-Section on Tumors, European Association of Neurological Societies( EANS), Society for Neurooncology (SNO), European Association for Neurooncology (EANO), American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), International Meningioma Society, Turkish Neurosurgical Society (TND), Turkish Neurosurgical Academy (TNA), Turkish Neurooncology Group (TURNOG), Society of Neurooncology, and Turkish Society of Neurosurgery (SSCD).
He served first as the secretary and then the president of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society- Neurooncology Group (TURNOG) between 2015-2021. Currently, Dr. Özduman is serving the president of the Multidisciplinary Neurooncology Society in Turkey since 2023.
He is married and has two children.
