Rakesh Murugesan is a medical student at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University, earning a degree in Honors Biomedical Science with Research Distinction. His research has focused on immunologic modulation in acute myeloid leukemia and translational approaches for pediatric brain tumors, with work conducted at The Ohio State University and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
He has contributed to research presentations and publications in oncology and immunotherapy and remains engaged in medical education and global health initiatives. Rakesh also serves as Co-Chair of the Penn Global Surgery Group and has been involved in student-led nonprofit work. His interests include neurosurgery, oncology, and translational medicine.
