Samantha Schimmel is a third-year medical student at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. She graduated with a B.A. in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University in 2021.
Driven by a passion for neurosurgery, Samantha's research focuses on improving patient outcomes following subarachnoid hemorrhage and spine surgery. Her work investigates potential blood and cerebrospinal fluid markers for early detection of vasospasm, as well as the impact of demographic and operative factors on delayed recovery after spine surgery. Through her research, Samantha aims to enhance clinical decision-making and contribute to better patient care in neurosurgery.
