Esteban R. Rivera Rivera, B.S., M.D. Candidate, is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. His academic interests lie at the intersection of neurosurgery, clinical outcomes research, and addressing health disparities in underserved populations.
Rivera's work has been shared at national and international conferences including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, and the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, where his work has been recognized with multiple research awards. His scholarly contributions include research in neuro-oncology, neurovascular interventions, and population-based studies.
In addition to his academic and research involvement, he has held several leadership positions within student organizations focused on neurosurgery, community service, and academic advocacy. He has also been actively involved in medical education as a tutor and speaker, supporting the academic success and wellness of his peers.
Dedicated to service, Rivera has participated in numerous outreach initiatives across Puerto Rico, including health fairs, disaster relief efforts, and student-led clinics. He has also completed clinical training rotations at academic medical centers in Puerto Rico and the mainland United States.
Outside of medicine, he is passionate about fitness and endurance sports, regularly participating in long distance running events and CrossFit. He is honored to share his work as part of the 2025 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting and remains committed to pursuing a Neurosurgical career that combines clinical excellence, research, and service.
