Mazen Taman is a second-year MD candidate at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, dedicated to neurosurgery. A former NCAA Division I football player, Mazen earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island, where he was honored as the 2023 commencement student speaker. His research interests include glioblastoma biomarkers and spinal oncology outcomes. As a clinical pharmacist at Rhode Island Hospital, Mazen brings a unique perspective by exploring the intersection of pharmacology and neurosurgery. He is passionate about leveraging his pharmaceutical background to optimize medication use in neurosurgical care, aiming to improve patient outcomes through clinical and translational research. Mazen has been recognized with the Bernard J. Tyson Career Development Award and was a member of the Visiting Research Internship Program at Harvard Medical School. Committed to mentorship and equity, he founded ROSEBuds, a program connecting underserved students with medical mentors, and actively works to increase diversity in medicine. Mazen aspires to advance neurosurgical innovation while supporting equitable access to care and hopes to become a future leader in the field.
