Mario-Cyriac Tchaya Tcheuakado, BS, is a fourth-year medical student at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is involved in neurosurgery skull base research and is currently completing his thesis, investigating outcomes after salvage radiation between intensity-modulated radiotherapy and gamma knife stereotactic radiosurgery in World Health Organization grade I meningiomas. Mario is concurrently pursuing a master's in bioethics and medical humanities. During undergrad, Mario completed an honors bachelor of science in neuroscience and behavior at the University of Notre Dame with a minor in philosophy where he completed a thesis investigating the influence of integrative versus non-integrative encoding strategies on associative memory across wake and sleep. He's also conducted research in various fields such as Multiple Sclerosis, addiction, and anesthesia.
Mario-Cyriac is a Cameroon native who immigrated to the United States in 2004 and grew up in resource-impoverished and underserved communities. This has incited a passion in him to serve those communities and help them achieve equitable goals. Mario has also held leadership roles in the Student National Medical Association, where he has helped represent and advocate for current and future underrepresented minority medical students. Mario is passionate about others and hopes to connect with patients in a way that makes them feel heard and gives them a sense of belonging. By pursuing a career in neurosurgery, Mario hopes to use his scientific curiosity, personal experiences, and medical knowledge to reach those suffering from neurological conditions in order to provide safe and equitable care.
