My name is Davin Devara (B.S.A.), and I am a third-year medical student at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, TX. I am currently doing a research year with Dr. Sameer Sheth at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, and will be applying to match neurosurgery for this upcoming cycle. I became captivated by the field of functional neurosurgery after seeing how their research can restore vital human functions, like speech or movement. This year, I focused on learning the fundamental techniques behind collecting and analyzing neural data so that I could contribute to this field throughout my career. I aim to develop a deeper understanding of the neural basis behind memory with the hope of one day being able to restore it in patients with Alzheimer's disease.
