Medical Student
UF COM, US
Chloe DeYoung, B.S. is a medical student at the University of Florida College of Medicine and a researcher in the Rahman Lab. Originally from Cambria, Wisconsin, a rural village of 700 people, she is the first in her family to attend medical school. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from Stetson University, where she developed a passion for research and scientific discovery.
Her interest in neurosurgery began in high school when she volunteered at a nursing home, caring for patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. This experience, combined with her research on glioblastoma immunotherapy at UF, solidified her commitment to academic neurosurgery. She is also passionate about mentorship and leadership, serving as President of the Association of Women Surgeons, Treasurer of the Neurosurgery Interest Group, Orientation Chair for the incoming class, and Intramural Chair for her class. Outside of medicine, Chloe enjoys staying active through sports and lifting, discovering new books, and hosting movie nights with her friends.
Chloe hopes to pursue a career in neurosurgery, possibly focusing on pediatrics, neuro-oncology, or both. She is dedicated to advancing research, surgical innovation, and medical education to improve patient outcomes and is excited to see where her journey in neurosurgery will take her.
