Professor of Neurosurgery
Stanford University
Dr. Hayden Gephart is a Professor and brain tumor neurosurgeon at Stanford University, with an active clinical practice and research program. She directs the Stanford Brain Tumor Center and the Stanford Brain Metastasis Consortium, collaborative unions of physicians and scientists looking to improve our understanding and treatment of brain tumors. Her laboratory seeks greater understanding of the mechanisms driving brain tumor growth, and to discover novel biomarkers of brain health and disease, in order to identify more effective and less toxic treatments. Her team studies how rare cancer cell populations survive and migrate in the brain, inadvertently supported by native brain cells. Her laboratory has developed novel cerebrospinal fluid-based biomarkers to track brain cancer treatment response, relapse, and treatment neurotoxicity. Dr. Hayden Gephart leads multiple clinical trials to test new potential therapies for patients. This bedside-to-bench-to-bedside research model builds on a foundation of generously donated patient samples, tests mechanisms of brain cancer growth, develops novel pre-clinical models that reliably recapitulate the human disease, and facilitates clinical trials of new treatments for patients with brain cancer. www.GephartLab.com @HaydenGephartMD
