My name is Sasidhar Karuparti, and I am a third-year medical student at the University of Missouri in Columbia taking a research year with the TL1 Predoctoral Research Program at Washington University in St. Louis. I am passionate about neuroscience and neurosurgical research, and I completed my Bachelor's in Biological Sciences with an Honor's thesis in Neurobiology and Behavior studying neuronal development and tiling under the mentorship of Dr. Chun Han at the Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology at Cornell University. In medical school, I have primarily been working with Dr. Jennifer Strahle at Washington University studying brain development and hydrocephalus in patients with myelomeningocele. I am additionally passionate about physician advocacy and have worked at the state level ,on education policy, at the regional level to promote insurance reforms and increased access to preventative care to underserved populations, and at the national level on AMA policy towards health information and technology.
