Dr. Jenny Christine Kienzler, MD PhD, is an Attending Neurosurgeon at the University Hospital Lausanne and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Experimental Immunology, University of Zurich. She also serves as a Research Associate at the Department of Neurosurgery, University Hospital Zurich.
Dr. Kienzler completed her medical education at the University of Zurich, followed by her MD thesis on the outcomes of ruptured intracranial aneurysms. She earned her PhD in 2024, focusing on "High-Dimensional Flow Cytometry of Tumor and Immune Cell Marker in High Grade Glioma." Her extensive clinical training includes positions at multiple institutions in Switzerland and a Clinical Fellowship in Radiosurgery at UCLA.
From 2018 to 2020, Dr. Kienzler conducted postdoctoral research at the Brain Tumor Immunotherapy Research Lab in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, under the mentorship of Professors L. Liau and R. Prins. This work focused on immunotherapeutic approaches to brain tumors.
Her research focuses on neuro-oncology, particularly the immunological aspects of malignant brain tumors. Dr. Kienzler has secured over CHF 1.1 million in research funding, including the prestigious Advanced Clinician Scientist Program Grant from the University of Zurich for her work on "Remodeling the Immunosuppressive Tumor Microenvironment by Targeting Tissue-Resident and Invading Macrophage Populations in Malignant Brain Tumors."
