Dr. Felipe Ramirez-Velandia, currently serves as a pre-residency fellow at the department of neurosurgery at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Ramirez-Velandia graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, School of Medicine, Colombia on July of 2023. His early foray into research took place at Clinica Chicamocha in Bucaramanga, Colombia, where he played a pioneering role in the development of 3-D printed locking drill guides for transpedicular screw fixation.
Dr. Ramirez-Velandia journey continued at the Neurology and Neurosurgery Research Group at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, where he engaged in a diverse array of projects. From studying essential tremor management and minimally invasive spine surgery to analyzing the impact of physical activity on cognitive performance
Dr. Ramirez-Velandia also worked as a research fellow at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School from 2023-2024, under the mentorship of Christopher S. Ogilvy. His specific contributions included computational fluid dynamics analyses of aneurysms, evaluating the hemodynamic mechanisms in the Circle of Willis, endothelial progenitor cells in aneurysm pathogenesis, and analyzed new technologies for aneurysm treatments.
