Maria Fernanda Pires Santana, a third-year medical student at the University Center of Várzea Grande in Mato Grosso, Brazil, is driven by a deep passion for neurosurgery that began in high school. Fascinated by the complexities of the brain and nervous system, Maria’s aspirations in neurovascular, neuroendovascular, and neuro-oncology have guided her academic journey, leading her toward her dream of becoming a skilled neurosurgeon.
Maria’s love for medicine goes hand in hand with her passion for life outside of the classroom. She is a gifted piano player, enjoys running, and is an active member of her church, where she sings and cares for children during Sunday services. These activities reflect her nurturing nature and her belief in the healing power of music, kindness, and a joyful spirit. In addition to her academic and personal pursuits, Maria is actively involved in research with the MB Research Group, contributing to advancements in neurosurgery and medicine.
