Madison Evans, B.S., MD/MPH Candidate, is a medical and public health student at the University of Maryland whose research is focused on traumatic brain injury (TBI). Her projects include investigating the cellular mechanisms involved in hemorrhagic progression following contusion, evaluating the neuroprotective effects of MCB-10 on GFAP expression in TBI, and leading a scoping review on diaschisis in TBI. She also has a passion for advancing research at the intersection of neurosurgery and public health. Her work spans multiple disciplines, including neurosurgical disparities and inequities, global neurosurgery, and neurosurgical ethics and decision making. Madison has led and contributed to various research projects, such as assessing neurosurgical care capacity in Uganda and investigating gender inequities in stroke outcomes.
