Rahim Abo Kasem was born and raised in Salamiyah, Hama, Syria, and is a postdoctoral research fellow under the esteemed guidance of neurosurgery faculty at the University of Louisville. He began his postdoctoral journey at the Medical University of South Carolina under the guidance of Dr. Alex Spiotta. Rahim earned his medical degree from Damascus University-Faculty of Medicine and has a substantial background in research and internship at university hospitals in Damascus amidst the war, shaping his resilient and insightful approach to medicine. His research focuses on cerebrovascular diseases, spine surgery and brain tumors, driven by a passion to leverage modern technological advancements to enhance patient care and elevate global neurosurgical practices. An active contributor to major U.S. conferences and a veteran of numerous humanitarian missions in Syria, Rahim is gearing up to enter the neurosurgery match. Beyond his professional pursuits, Rahim is passionate about youth empowerment, mentoring high school students worldwide to seize educational opportunities and cherish the value of travel.
