George T. Naratadam, PhD is a 3rd year medical student at the University of Texas Health Science Center Long School of Medicine in San Antonio. He completed undergraduate students in Molecular and Cellular Biology (Honors) and Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where his thesis focused on neuronal development of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis and its role in cancer and metabolic disease. He then performed post-bachelor research at Vanderbilt University studing neuronal and axonal degeneration in glaucoma pathogenesis. After a brief stint at Abbott Laboratories, he matriculated into the South Texas Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed his PhD in the laboratory of Dr. Armen Akopian investigating endogneous mechanisms controlling the resolution of neuropathic pain conditions. He is currently a 3rd year medical student and will be applying to neurosurgical residency programs in the upcoming 2025-2026 cycle.
