Dr. Mert Marcel Dagli, MD is the Sharpe Research Fellow at the Department of Neurosurgery, University of Pennsylvania. He is actively pursuing a neurosurgical residency in the United States and graduated summa cum laude at the top of his class, earning an MD with Distinction from the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria in 2023. His clinical research interests include the development and validation of artificial intelligence (AI)-based diagnostic and prognostic clinical prediction models, the investigation of large language models (LLM) for patient communication and education, and LLM integration in natural language processing frameworks for the validated and automated extraction of clinical data from electronic health records. With a strong focus on innovation and emerging technologies, Dr. Dagli is dedicated to refining and optimizing spinal surgery on the systems level.
