Neurosurgery Resident

Dr. Harsh P. Shah is a 7th-year neurosurgery resident at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, VA, where he is completing fellowship training in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. In 2025-2026, he will pursue advanced surgical neuro-oncology training at Washington University in St. Louis. His clinical interests include epilepsy, movement disorders, and neuro-oncology, with a focus on advanced imaging, neurophysiology, and minimally invasive surgical techniques to improve patient comfort and safety while achieving optimal clinical outcomes.
Harsh grew up in India and Chicago. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, earning a B.A. in Biomedical Physics with additional coursework in biomedical engineering. He went on to complete his M.D. at the University of Illinois at Chicago – Rockford. To complement his medical training, he is also pursuing a Master’s in Product Innovation at VCU’s da Vinci Center for Innovation, integrating entrepreneurship, engineering, and technology to drive surgical innovation.
His research focuses on correlating clinical and neuropsychological outcomes with anatomy and neurophysiology by using signal processing, neuroimaging, and computational techniques. When not working, Harsh enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and attending as many concerts as possible.
