Gabrielle Dituri, BS, is a medical student at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, USA. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Biology from the California Institute of Technology in 2023. With a strong foundation in analytical and quantitative reasoning, she applies her background to neurosurgical research, aiming to improve surgical outcomes and patient care.
Gabrielle is currently collaborating with leading experts at institutions such as Johns Hopkins University, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Tulane University. Her active projects include studying glioblastoma drop metastasis, cerebral aqueduct anatomy, and the social determinants of neurosurgical outcomes. Prior to medical school, she conducted research in particle physics, analyzing long-lived particles in the CMS muon detectors at the Large Hadron Collider, and in quantum optics, where she studied quantum entanglement at Fermilab. Her research in particle physics has been published in Physical Review D and the Caltech Undergraduate Research Journal.
Beyond research, Gabrielle is dedicated to medical education and mentorship. As president of the Tulane chapter of the American Medical Women’s Association, the Tulane Surgery Interest Group, and the Tulane chapter of Medical Students for Choice, she works to expand educational and professional development opportunities for her peers. She also serves as the program coordinator of Tulane’s AANS chapter, where she organizes events and facilitates mentorship opportunities for students interested in neurosurgery. Passionate about bridging science and medicine, Gabrielle is committed to advancing neurosurgical research, education, and patient care.
