Seeley Yoo, B.S., is a third year medical student at Duke University School of Medicine who is interested in pursuing a career in neurosurgery. She is from Richmond, Virginia and went to Davidson College where she got her bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience and played on the Division I women's soccer team. After graduating, she spent two years working at the National Human Genome Research Institute as a postbaccalaureate research fellow before beginning medical school. Seeley is passionate about improving mobility and quality of life in neuro-oncology patients and promoting diversity and inclusivity in surgical specialties. Therefore, throughout medical school she has conducted spine oncology research focused on improving mobility, pain, and emotional health outcomes and serves on the executive board for a spine surgery patient navigators program, a symposium series to promote diversity in surgery (Future Leaders in Surgery Symposium for Underrepresented Students), and the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS). In her free time, she enjoys playing sports, hiking, running, spending time with friends, and exploring new restaurants in Durham.
