Hal S. Meltzer, MD is Professor and Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at West Virginia University (WVU) Department of Neurosurgery, Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, and Neurosurgical Director of Craniofacial Surgery at WVU Medicine Children's Hospital. Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Meltzer was graduated with Distinction from the Northwestern University School of Medicine and completed his Neurosurgery Residency at the University of California, San Diego. His areas of clinical expertise include the development of novel surgical techniques in the treatment of craniofacial disorders including minimally invasive endoscopic as well as posterior vault and in situ distraction osteogenesis procedures. At WVU School of Medicine, Dr. Meltzer has been elected a member of the Academy of Excellence in Teaching and Learning, is on the Medical School Executive Admissions Committee, serves as Chair of the Neurosurgery Department's Promotion and Tenure Committee, and is Patient Safety and Quality Officer for the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Meltzer is especially proud of the many outstanding residents and medical students he has had the privilege to mentor over the past 25 years.
