Professor and Head (Chair) of Neurosurgery

Dr. Shukla is a Professor of Neurosurgery and currently heading (chairing) the Department of Neurosurgery of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore, India. His clinical and surgical practice mainly comprises endoscopic and pediatric neurosurgery and skull base surgery. His academic and research interests include the continuum of traumatic brain injuries. He was secretary of the Neurotrauma Society of India from 2021 to 2024. He is a member of the WFNS Neurotrauma Committee (2024-26). He is also a NIHR Global Health Research Group member on Acquired Brain and Spine Injuries and is currently the Administrative Principal Investigator at NIMHANS for three trials on traumatic brain injury. He has more than 300 publications including book chapters. He has been a speaker for more than 100 occasions at national and international conferences.
