Professor Marcos Tatagiba is currently the Chairman and Director of the Department of Neurosurgery of the University of Tübingen, Germany.
Medical study at the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Neurosurgical Training at the Department of Neurosurgery, Klinikum Hannover Nordstadt, Germany, under the Chairmanship of Professor Madjid Samii. Board of Neurosurgery in March 1993 with German and European Certificate. Doctoral thesis (Dr.med.) in 1992 and post-doctoral thesis (Habilitation) in 1998 at the Hannover Medical School. 1995-1996 Research fellow at the Institute of Brain Research, University of Zurich (Prof. Martin E. Schwab) as recipient of the Research Fellowship Program of the European Science Foundation. 1998-2002 Associate Professor, Hannover Medical School and International Neuroscience Institute (INI) Hannover. 2002-2003, Vice-Chairman Department of Neurosurgery, University of Freiburg, Germany.
Since 2003 Chairman and Director, Dept. of Neurosurgery, University of Tübingen. 2006, appointed as Chairman and Director, Dept. of Neurosurgery, University of Zurich, Switzerland.

Congress President of German Society of Neurosurgery (DGNC) in 2023. 2024, Doctor Honoris causa (Dr.h.c.) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil.
