Dr. Germano is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in the most advanced research and treatment of patients with brain tumors. She is a Professor of Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Oncological Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. She serves as Director of The Mount Sinai Comprehensive Brain Tumor Program, as well as Co-Director of the Radiosurgery Program and Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs at the Mount Sinai Health System. In her clinical practice, Dr. Germano focuses on providing multi-disciplinary care, rooted in minimally invasive procedures, for brain and spine tumor patients. Her pioneering work in the field includes first-in-human technology applications for computer-assisted, image-guided neurosurgery. Dr. Germano established Mount Sinai's first neurosurgery laboratory dedicated to brain tumor research and has led transformative studies funded by the NIH, NCI, FDA, and other prestigious organizations. With over 200 peer-reviewed publications and six books, she is widely regarded as a leader in translational research that bridges innovative science with practical applications.She is also internationally-recognized as a neurosurgery educator, having organized, directed, and/or served as an instructor at over 300 practical courses for neurosurgeons and trainees in the United States and abroad. Dr. Germano's leadership in neurosurgery is extraordinary, having held over 30 prominent positions in professional organizations She served as AANS/CNS Section on Tumor Chair (2022-2024), AANS Global Commitee Inaugural Chair (2023-2025) and re-appointed Cahir for 2025-2027, AANS/CNS Section on Women previous Chair, World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) Chair, Education and Training (2017-2022).
