Dr. Eric Thompson is a Professor of Neurosurgery, T.S. Park Chair in Pediatric Neurosurgery, and the divison chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Washington University in St. Louis. Originally from Iowa, Dr. Thompson received his Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University and his MD from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine prior to completing neurosurgery residency at Oregon Health & Science University and pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Thompson’s federally funded basic science lab 1) investigates the molecular mechanisms of leptomeningeal dissemination of pediatric brain tumors and 2) develops peptide vaccines to treat malignant pediatric tumors. He is also the Principal Investigator of multiple clinical trials of immunotherapy to treat malignant pediatric brain tumors.
