Christian Freyschlag completed his medical studies in Innsbruck in and started his residency thereafter in Mannheim, Germany. The stimulating environment created a deep interest for neurooncology. Following Claudius Thomé to Innsbruck in 2010 and leading the neurooncology team since 2013 represented challenging steps in a very young career. After clinical and research visits in Phoenix and Montpellier and continuous work to improve neurooncology care and research in Innsbruck, he was appointed vice-chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery in 2018.
He was appointed Professor for Neurooncological Surgery in 2019. The passion for networking and the friendly an environment laid the foundation of his engagement for the EANS with the highlight of being elected to serve as chair of the Young Neurosurgeons Committee of the EANS in 2019.
