Currently Professor of Neurosurgery and Radiation Oncology at the Yale University School of Medicine. Began as Medical Director of the Yale New Haven Hospital Gamma Knife center in 2006 and helped establish the national indications in the US for radiosurgical management of multiple brain metastases. Now leads the Multidisciplinary Brain Metastasis Management Program at Yale In collaboration with colleagues in radiation oncology and medical oncology. Areas of research include (1) establishing the role of radiosurgery in the context of various systemic therapies in the treatment of brain metastases (2) understanding the underlying pathophysiology, risk factors and diagnosis of SRS complications including tumor recurrence and radiation necrosis and (3) developing novel management strategies for brain metastases failing SRS. Early adopter in the development of the use of laser interstitial thermal therapy for treatment of cerebral indications.
