Associate Professor
University of Missouri Department of Neurosurgery
Carolyn Quinsey, MD, is a board-certified pediatric neurosurgeon who specializes in minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy. Dr. Quinsey is fellowship trained in pediatric neurosurgery and operates on children and adults using the latest technology and innovative techniques. She is one of few surgeons to offer fetal surgery to repair congenital spine defects in children before they are born. She is also one of very few surgeons using flexible endoscopy to treat brain tumors, brain fluid and cyst conditions in patients without implanting hardware such as a shunt.
Dr Quinsey is committed to training the next generation of neurosurgeons in the United States and abroad. She is the associate program director for neurosurgery residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine and teaches residents and medical students. She travels to Africa regularly to support the efforts to improve neurosurgical care for patients in resource-poor environments and collaborates with global partners on efforts that will improve neurosurgery worldwide.
Dr. Quinsey focuses on being approachable and accessible with patients to create relationships, and her favorite part of being a doctor is finding unexpected ways to be a positive force in the lives of her patients and coworkers. She is passionate about delivering world-class surgical care to patients that doesn’t require them to travel across the country.
