Introduction: Endoscopic spine surgery is one of the most recent minimally invasive spine surgery techniques. Its use has been proven efficacious and safe in various spine pathologies; however, only few studies have been published regarding the application of endoscopic spine surgery in the treatment of spinal metastasis.
Methods: A systematic review was conducted using Pubmed and Google Scholar using MeSH keywords related to different endoscopic surgical approaches for sacral metastatic tumors.
Results: The authors presented an illustrative case showing a first in the world and trailblazing endoscopic spinal approach. Furthermore, this study included cases of sacral metastatic tumors who underwent uniportal versus multipart endoscopic surgical approaches. Comparative advantages and disadvantages were discussed.
Conclusion : Endoscopic access for spinal metastases should be thoroughly planned in appropriately selected patients. It has achieved the same goal of decompression while providing comparable outcomes compared to other techniques. This uniportal endoscopic surgical approach can be proposed for almost complete debulking of the sacral mass.
